Memoir Pieces In Progress

My writing practice weaves together personal narrative and therapeutic wisdom, creating bridges between lived experience and healing potential. Drawing from my Colombian and Appalachian heritage, I craft memoirs that honor cultural intersections while exploring universal themes of identity, resilience and transformation.

Whether guiding others through bibliotherapy or developing my own creative work, I approach writing as both art and medicine—a gentle yet powerful tool for uncovering meaning in our stories and illuminating paths toward wholeness.

Spiraling Towards the Light

From the depths of debilitating chronic pain that nearly claimed my life, I embarked on a transformative journey guided by an unexpected constellation of healers, advocates, and companions. This memoir chronicles my path from darkness to possibility, illuminating how human connection became the medicine that conventional treatments couldn't provide. Through intimate portraits of those who carried me when I couldn't walk alone, this story reveals how community becomes salvation, and how healing often arrives in forms we never anticipated.

The Taste of a Mango

Between Colombia's vibrant culture and the rolling hills of Appalachian Ohio, I forged my identity through the wisdom of my grandmother, who became my bridge across continents. Her teachings guided me through the challenge of reconciling two contrasting worlds, helping me find belonging in cultural displacement. This memoir explores how family becomes our foundation as I navigated the complexity of dual heritage, transforming my grandmother's intergenerational wisdom into the compass that continues to shape my sense of self.

Tom and Phil

After witnessing the death of his identical twin, my father embarked on a journey of resilience, forging a new identity in the shadow of profound loss. The invisible thread connecting him to his brother remained, even as he built a life that honored both his twin's memory and his own right to continue living. This memoir explores the unique grief of losing one's mirror self and how my father transformed devastating loss into a testament to the human capacity for renewal.
